#10 Tom Ford Mandarino Di Amalfi
The Best Tom Ford Cologne For The Summer
In a nutshell, this is a high-quality fresh orangey-citrus scent with a classy touch! And it smells GREAT.
Let’s take a look:
When you first spray Mandarino Di Amalfi, you get a blast of super fresh, effervescent orange and grapefruit citruses. And this bright, juicy citrus freshness is infused with whispers of soft white florals and fresh, spicy minty herbs.
Very, very nice.
And as it dries down on your skin, a blanket of soft musk smooths everything out beautifully.
Bright & Refreshing
It’s extremely well blended, with no sharp edges, and smells highly natural, bright, and refreshing. Top marks.
The beautiful part?
This is super versatile β all seasons, all ages, men or women. You can wear this anytime, anywhere, and you wonβt offend anyone (even if you overspray π).
That said, I would say it’s tailor-made for warm weather daytime use, so it truly shines in the spring and summer β making it the perfect summer cologne or for tropical vacations.
Tailor-Made for the Heat
Speaking of… to discover some more amazing fragrances that work great in the high heat, check out our best summer colognes list.
But hereβs the bad part, my friend:
As this is a fresh, citrus-based scent, this fragrance is not super long lasting. I get it.
And I’ll be straight with you…
In our tests, we were only getting an average of 4β5 hours of total longevity after an application on skin.
And usually, we would NOT recommend a fragrance to you that has poor lasting performance β especially with such a high price point.
However, we had to make an exception for Mandarino Di Amalfi, simply because it just smells so good. So please keep this in mind.

Because here’s the truth:
If this lasted longer on skin, it would have been MUCH higher up on this list (probably in the top 5!). But because of the performance, it lost points, so only made it on our #10 spot as we think the lasting power of a fragrance is an important factor, and it should justify the price.
But letβs be real:
Fresh, Juicy Citruses
Summer citrus and aquatic based scents are not super-long lasting because citrus is very volatile on the skin. HOWEVER β all is not lost because…
Fortunately, there’s an EASY solution to this:
To make your citrus based scents last longer, just simply give your clothes a quick spritz.
Problem solved β with the press of a button. π
Side note: The transparent sky-blue-colored bottle looks gorgeous.
#9 Tom Ford Noir De Noir
Luxurious Dark Chocolate & Roses
First things first:
If you don’t like rose fragrances, stay well clear of this as it has a prominent rose note. π
Now, although it’s totally unisex, please note this is not a macho scent. Therefore, some guys might find this a little too feminine to pull off. Oh, by the way…
If you do love rose scents, be sure to check our best rose perfumes list as most are unisex. Anyway…
With that said, here’s what you need to know:
Noir De Noir was the creation of 3 superstar perfumers and is one of the originals in the Private Blend Collection, which has stood the test of time.
In fact, today, it is still one of their best sellers… and for good reason: This smells…
Seductive, Dark & Mysterious
In fact, let me tell you how it smells…
To keep it simple: Noir De Noir smells of dark-red rose petals blended with luxury dark-chocolate liqueur… with an added rich, velvety, captivating vanilla sweetness. (It’s sweet β but not overly sweet.)
It has a seductive, dark and mysterious feel to it.
Now, the rose is the star of the show in this fragrance β itβs a beautiful dark, creamy, woody rose.
Dark Woody Rose
And when it starts to settle, a patchouli, vanilla, and transparent woody-oud combo join the party β to give it a nice, rich, earthy, dark chocolatey vibe.
Is it sexy? Absolutely.
Now, this is strictly a cool weather fragrance and go easy with the sprays, as this packs-a-punch. It’s unisex and more suited for the mature 25-up crowd. And the good news…
Noir De Noir is an EDP, and for the first few hours, it projects just over arm’s length β leaving a heavy scent trail.
It then softens up, and we consistently logged around 6β9+ hours of longevity.
Unique & Upscale
Now, Noir De Noir is a super-unique, upscale fragrance that is suitable for dressed up events, special romantic occasions, etc.
However, I would not recommend you wear this for the office, or for casual use, as it’s bold, complex and sophisticated.
And to wear this casually, would be like wearing a tuxedo to go grocery shopping. π
Because make no mistake, my friend:
You WILL get noticed with this on.
#8 Tom Ford F Fabulous EDP
Creamy Almond & Leather Scent
Gotta be honest:
The controversial name of this fragrance generated a LOT of hype. And even a backlash of unfair reviews from some people who had NOT even smelled the scent! They were just upset about the NAME of the scent. π€¦ββοΈ
Crazy, right?
Anyway… this is not an average run-of-the-mill fragrance. This is a creative, luxury fragrance… that is super unique, yet mass-appealing.
Here’s a quick rundown…
Sweet & Seductive
Fabulous opens with a blast of powdery almond mixed with sweet creamy tonka bean… and a hint of leather with some spicy nuances in the background.
But here’s the beautiful part:
As it starts to settle, the leather note starts to come more into play; along with some iris and coffee to give it a delicious semi-gourmand vibe.
Creamy & Nutty
It smells sweet, leathery, creamy and nutty… Sexy and seductive.
This is best worn in fall, winter, and on cool spring nights. And as this is quite powdery, I would avoid wearing it in the high summer heat (and be careful not to overspray, too).
Fabulous is suitable for any age (man or woman) and more geared for formal, special occasions, dates, nights out. It doesnβt scream out for attention β but you will get noticed.
And our testers all reported lasting power was ballpark: 6β8+ hours.
Simply put:
This is Effing Fabulous!!! (Sorry, couldn’t resist. π)
#7 Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille
Sweet & Sexy
Tobacco Vanille is another one of the OGs from the Private Blend Collection, which has stood the test of time.
In fact, this is arguably their best seller from the entire collection. Youβre probably wondering…
Whatβs it smell like? Guess what?
Tobacco and Vanilla β no surprises here. π
By the way, this also deservedly made it onto our best vanilla perfumes and best tobacco fragrances lists β for good reason!
However, I should point something out:
Give it Time to Settle
My friend, please do not immediately judge the fragrance on the initial spray as the opening can be quite harsh (it has a sharp clove note). But when it eventually calms down, then the magic begins.
The easiest way I can describe it:
Tobacco Vanille has a spicy-sweet, creamy vanilla, marshmallow vibe β mixed with dry-tobacco leaf and woody, dried fruit notes.
In fact, the vanilla is the backbone of this fragrance. And it becomes slightly sweeter with time and is joined with a nice hint of honey.
It’s perfectly blended and smells natural.
Authentic Smelling
Now, this is dark and potent, so only use in the cooler seasons: fall and winter. And it’s more suited for nighttime usage. And the good news, it can be worn by both men and women.
However, it’s not for the younger crowd. This has a grown-up feel about it, so I suggest 25-up.
And I would say this is more of a classy, special occasions type of scent for dates, upscale black-tie events, nights out. As it’s not really suited for everyday casual use.
Black-Tie & Special Occasions
Now, a quick word of caution:
Be careful not to overspray this as you will choke people out. My friend, this is a thick, bold scent, so you have to be confident to wear it.
Hereβs how to use it:
Less is More
1β2 sprays MAX. Thatβs all you need. π
Less-is-more when it comes to Tobacco Vanille. Because for the first few hours it pushes out, and we got a respectable 7β9+ hours of wear.
Here is a tip that works great:
Apply this 30 minutes before you go out; to give it time to smooth out.
And watch heads turn. π
#6 Tom Ford Tuscan Leather EDP
The Gold Standard of Leather Fragrances
Here’s the truth:
Many other fragrance houses have tried (and tried!) to dupe this fragrance β but failed.
In fact, Tuscan Leather has stood the test of time as it was one of the originals in the line. And today, it’s still one of their best sellers. And for good reason:
This smells phenomenal. π
Fun fact:
Canadian rapper Drake, even borrowed the name Tuscan Leather for one of his singles on his third album β βNothing Was the Same.β
As Drakeβs lyrics go: βTom Ford Tuscan Leather smelling like a brick.β (Allegedly, referring to a brick of a certain expensive white-colored illegal substance, which some people say this scent smells like. Hmmm.)
Anyway… make no mistake, my friend:
Screams Sophistication
When you rock this in public, people will want to know what you have on because it screams sophistication and smells incredibly expensive β and so it should!
How’s it smell?
Simply put, Tuscan Leather is a slightly smoky, fruity leather scent. It has an incredibly authentic raw leather and suede note that is blended with a nice raspberry sweetness, a whisper of incense, and some woods.
Think of the smell inside of a brand-new luxury car with a leather interior with some added raspberry sweetness. So if you donβt like the smell of leather β stay well clear.
Fruity Raspberry Leather
Tuscan Leather is a thick, bold scent, so is best worn in the cooler seasons. It can be worn day or night, dressed up, or even casual. And it’s more suited for the 20-up crowd. Could even be work friendly if you spray lightly, that is.
Now, a quick heads-up:
Be cautious with the sprayer as this one projects like crazy! Less-is-more with Tuscan Leather. Oh, and donβt apply this is the high summer heat. Trust me, you will regret it. π€¦ββοΈπ€£
And the good news:
In all of our tests, this was still rolling for an impressive 9+ hours.
If you donβt want to smell like everyone else, try this.
#5 Tom Ford Grey Vetiver EDP
Best Tom Ford Cologne for the Office
Update: After testing this EDP version, the brand released a newer, more concentrated Grey Vetiver Parfum version. However, we have fully tested this newer Parfum version, but we donβt think itβs as good as the EDP version.
So, we believe this EDP version is still the best and is the one we recommend. Plus, itβs cheaper!
Update #2: The brand just released a brand new 2026 βEau De Grey Vetiverβ EDT version. To keep this short, this new Eau De Grey Vetiver is a lighter, citrusy, and airier version of Grey Vetiver EDP. (Also, the vetiver note is toned down, and it has some soft floral notes.)
Anyway, after extensively testing Eau De Grey Vetiver for a week straight, we still recommend and keep this Grey Vetiver EDP version on this list over this new release. Why?
Well, we still prefer the scent profile of the EDP version; plus, while testing Eau De Grey Vetiver, we were only getting 4β5 hours of scent life on skin before it was gone.
To be clear, Eau De Grey Vetiver is a great release, and it smells pleasant β but, in my opinion, it does not βdethroneβ this EDP version.
OK, with that said…
In case you don’t know:
Vetiver is a grass that is used as an ingredient in fragrances, and it has a green earthy woody scent.
But hereβs the deal:
Not all vetiver colognes are created equal. Some are clean smelling, and some are earthy and smoky smelling.
Tom Fordβs Grey Vetiver falls under the clean smelling vetiver category. And this stuff smells GREAT. In fact, this is currently our #1 pick on our best vetiver colognes list β for good reason! π
Modern Sharp Dressed Man
With Grey Vetiver, Tom Ford has created his own modern take on a vetiver fragrance that is aimed for the modern, sharp dressed man. And he nailed it.
How’s it smell?
It has a fresh grapefruit citrus, with a clean, soapy, smooth vetiver note in the background… with some mild spicy and woody nuances.
Fresh, Classy & Masculine
It’s a fresh, classy, masculine fragrance for a confident polished man. You canβt go wrong with this mass-appealing crowd pleaser.
Because it’s super-safe and easy to wear, in all seasons, and for any occasion. However, it shines for spring and summer daytime use.
Now:
This is a perfect office cologne, or for upscale suit and tie events. But it can even be worn casually β for when you just want to smell super clean and fresh.
Professionals
More suited for the 25-up crowd. In fact, this would make a great signature scent for young professionals.
It also has great lasting performance for a citrus based scent, and will be sure to bag you some nice compliments, too.
And you’ll be pleased to know, this should get you through a work day as we consistently got 6β8+ hours from it.
Bottom line:
This should be a staple in every well-dressed manβs collection.
#4 Tom Ford Beau De Jour
Tailor-Made for Classy Gentleman
Beau De Jour was tailor-made for well-groomed, classy gentleman. Case in point:
Apparently, this is Mr Tom Fordβs, himself, signature scent β one of his personal favorites, out of all his collection, that he wears most of the time. And he has a LOT of scents to choose from!
And as the story goes, Ford wanted a scent that would evoke what the classical Hollywood actor Cary Grantβs neck would smell like. (Cary Grant was the quintessential gentleman and best-dressed actor in his time.)
Anyway, I have no idea of how his neck would of smelled, but when I smell Beau De Jour, it evokes this:
Imagine, the aroma of a perfectly groomed, elegant gentlemanβ¦ Whoβs stepping freshly out of an old-school barbershop after a haircut and a luxurious traditional straight edge razor shaveβ¦ Performed using hot towels, rich creamy lather, aftershave lotions, talc β the works!
Imagining it? Great. Now you understand Beau De Jour. More specifically itβsβ¦
A Vintage Barbershop Scent with A Modern Twist
Barbershop scent? What the?!?
Oh, if youβre unfamiliar with the term, Beau De Jour falls under the genre of an aromatic fougere scent in a subcategory known as a βbarbershopβ fougere.
To keep it simple, these are scents that are reminiscent of how a gentleman would smell like after a trip to a traditional barbershop, back in the day.
Imagine the combination of the aromas of luxurious minty-lavender shaving cream, talcum powders, aftershave lotions, antiseptics etc. β all captured in a scent.
All of which may evoke memories for you, of trips for a haircut with your father (depending on how old you are, that is). Anywayβ¦
BDJ is in this βbarbershopβ genre, but it gets the TF luxurious, modernized touch for the modern man β so it doesnβt smell βdatedβ, per se (more on this in a minute).
That said, before you jump into this thing with both feet, I want to be abundantly clear:
This is Grown Manβs Stuff
So please take heed, my friend:
If youβre under 30 (maybe even 35), I donβt think you will appreciate this β Iβll do my best to steer you from the rocks.
On top of that, I must inform you Beau De Jour is a BIG departure from the typical, mainstream fresh-sweet, blue shower-gel type scents, which are currently popular on the market. BDJ is a serious, gentlemanly scent, soβ¦
This will set you apart from the rest of the crowd β in a good way!
As it makes a powerful first impression that separates the true, confident gentleman from the tire-kickers and wannabes. π
By the way, Beau De Jour is in the same wheelhouse as scents such as: Azzaro Pour Homme, Penhaligonβs Sartorial, Davidoff Zino, and the absolute classic, now discontinued, YSL Rive Gauche Pour Homme (remember the tin can?).
So if youβre familiar with any of those, you know the drill. And if you like any of those β I think youβll LOVE Beau De Jour.
Enough! I think you get the point. π
Oh, and before I forget, here’s the cool partβ¦
As with Ombre Leather, Beau De Jour also began life in the Private Blend line before it too was discontinued, repackaged, and re-released a year later, in the Signature collection β at a MUCH more affordable price.

So, in essence, youβre getting a once exclusive Private Blend scent in a new, different (and cooler looking) bottleβ¦ for nearly half the price!
Not going to complain about that, right?
Anyway, by now youβre probably thinkingβ¦
All this sounds pretty coolβ¦ But what does it actually smell like? I thought youβd never ask!
What Does Beau De Jour Smell Like?
As soon as you spray Beau De Jour, you get a huge dose of sharp, green aromatic lavender mixed with some rosemary and a touch of lively mint and hints of basil.
The lavender is turned up to 11, and it has a clean, spicy, green herbaceous quality β which gives off that refined, classical hyper-masculine smell.
Fast forward about 30 minutes, and the lavender smooths out, giving a cool, calming effect⦠and an underlying layer of patchouli and oakmoss give it some earthy, woody depth.
It has a smooth, clean, green herbal-minty shaving cream feel to it β which gives youβ¦
An Air of Clean Confidence
And finally, as it plays out, a rich amber accord creeps in, lending a hint of modern semi-sweetness and warmth, which gives this retro scent a contemporary twist.
So it doesnβt smell βdatedβ, so to speak β just mature and masculine.
And the craziest partβ¦
When testing this, I received an unusually large amount of compliments and got appraising looks from women (and guys) I passed byβ¦ Which, if Iβm brutally honest, I wasnβt expecting from this type of scent DNA.
Not complaining, though. π
But do me a favor, try this on your skin, as a paper test strip doesnβt do it justice. Also, give it a while to settle before passing judgement β trust me.
A Gentlemanβs Daily Driver
And youβll be pleased to know, if youβre a mature, sharply-dressed guy over 30, you will get a LOT of wear out of this as it can be worn all year. Just modulate your sprays as needed.
That said, I would avoid wearing it on super-hot days outside (or if you live somewhere humid) as it may get too cloying.
Itβs a true gentlemanβs βdaily driverβ and more suited for smart-casual/formal daytime wear. And it’s a PERFECT business/office scent, by the way. This is where it shines.
A quick heads-up, though:
It opens up quite strong, so donβt go nuts with the sprayer (2β3 is the sweet spot). Then it projects about an armβs length for the first 2β3 hours β leaving a noticeable scent trail.
It then becomes more βgentlemanlyβ and radiates closer to your skin, giving off gentle, clean wafts when you move about. And the good newsβ¦
Beau De Jour comes in an EDP concentration, and in test after test, it lasted in the respectable neighbourhood of 6β9+ hours.
Oh, and I gotta sayβ¦
Both the bottle and the juice look pretty cool. The juice is a light green color, and comes in a classy translucent frosted glass bottle with a ribbed side, reminiscent of vintage barbershop bottles.

Plus, the cap sports the same ribbed effect, and is topped off with the TF logo. Awesome.
Bottom line:
Beau De Jour is a MUST smell for all barbershop scent lovers. Or for any classy gentlemen over 30, for that matter.
#3 Tom Ford Noir Extreme EDP
The Best Tom Ford Cologne for Clubbing
Here’s the deal:
Noir Extreme is a more affordable option from the brand, as itβs from their Signature Collection. However, this has such a high-quality vibe about it, that it actually deserves to be in their Private Blend Collection.
By the way…
This is a flanker to the original βTom Ford Noirβ β but smells completely different, and MUCH better. And…
Despite the name Extreme, this is actually a very subtle scent. It has a warm, spicy, woody, vanilla, nutty smell. Very sensual.
It opens with a huge blast of cardamom. Then, when the spices start to calm… it smooths out beautifully, into creamy-sweet, warm deliciousness.
The beautiful part?
This has a gourmand (edible smelling) quality. In fact, it smells just like a Kulfi, which is an Indian frozen dessert.
Which leads to some over-the-top compliments.

But be careful…
Your significant other may want to eat you up. π
Very Classy & Super Unique
To be clear:
This is not suited for teenagers. Itβs mature and classy, and best suited for the stylish 25-up crowd.
Perfect for suit and tie, or smart-casual. Put simply, this is for people who like to dress well.
Dates
Use in cooler seasons, and best for nighttime wear. Perfect for dates, romantic settings, special nights out… and makes an amazing clubbing scent.
We got around 5β8+ hours of longevity with soft projection.
The beautiful part?
Women absolutely LOVE this stuff. Not complaining, mind you. π
Update: After we tested this, the brand have released another more concentrated Noir Extreme Parfum. Of course, we put it through its paces and performed side-by-side sniff tests with the EDP version on this list. The result?
We think this EDP version on this list is superior to the newer Noir Extreme Parfum. Oh, and itβs cheaper, too!
#2 Tom Ford Ombre Leather EDP
A Sophisticated & Seductive Leather Scent
A little secret:
To our understanding, this award-winning scent, is actually a re-release of a previous limited edition fragrance that was named: Ombre Leather 16.
But here’s the cool part:
“Ombre Leather 16” was originally part of the brand’s high-end (expensive) Private Blend Collection. However… it has now been re-named (to simply Ombre Leather), re-packaged, and re-released in the brand’s more affordable Signature line.
Simply put:
You are getting the same high-quality niche fragrance, at a more affordable price β in a different bottle!
Can you say jackpot? π
Tuscan Leather’s Younger Cousin

Now, Ombre Leather smells quite similar to our #6 pick on this list: Tuscan Leather. However, Ombre Leather is lighter, fresher, and more versatile. Also, itβs more toned down and a bit smoother and creamier.
Now, to be clear:
They are not exactly the same. But they do share a LOT of similarities, making this a great more affordable option. Let’s have a closer look…
Luxurious Leather Accord
Ombre Leather EDP opens with a beautiful, deep fruity-leather accord β mixed with a soft floral touch of jasmine.
These notes are joined with some warm spicy cardamon and woody nuances to create this masculine, but not overpowering, fragrance.
The beautiful part?
Because it’s lighter than Tuscan Leather, you can rock this one in the spring, fall, and winter… and maybe even on a cool summer night (go with one spray, though). Even better…
Dressed-up, Dressed-down
This is super versatile: it can be worn dressed up, dressed down, days or nights. For work, casual, dates, nights out. (More suited for the 20-up crowd.)
Oh, and by the way, Ombre Leather EDP will be sure to bag you a LOT of compliments, too! π
Performs
Also, it has good long-lasting performance (6β8+ hours). But admittedly, not as good as its MUCH more expensive cousin, Tuscan Leather.
So if you LOVE Tuscan Leather, but the price scares you off β give this a try.
Side note: The black matte bottle looks classy.
Update:
Ombre Leather EDP vs Ombre Leather Parfum vs Eau DβOmbre Leather EDT
After we first tested and recommended Ombre Leather EDP on this list, the brand has since released a newer Parfum concentrated version, and then more recently an Eau DβOmbre Leather EDT version β this is a more vanilla dominant scent than leather. (Side note: all 3 versions are created by the same master perfumer: Sonia Constant.)
So, of course, in our latest round of testing, we put all 3 versions up against each other in side-by-side “blind-sniff tests” with our panel of testers, and we also scored them on scent life, etc.
The results?
We can happily report to you that the original Ombre Leather EDP won, so it is still the version we recommend and remains on this list. (Maybe they will release an Elixir version next? π€£)
#1 Tom Ford Oud Wood EDP
Masculine Classy Confidence
First off…
Donβt be put off by the name of this fragrance. To be honest, some oud fragrances can be very overpowering β this is not one of those. π
Now, in case you don’t know…
Oud is a scented resin that is distilled from the rare agarwood tree. The tree only grows in certain parts of the world, and due to its rarity β oud is SUPER expensive. How’s it smell?
Oud has a sophisticated, dark woody quality. By the way, this also made it onto our best oud colognes list β for good reason!
Anyway…
Modern
What Tom Ford have done here, is to create a very safe, modern oud fragrance. Simply put: Tom Ford’s Oud Wood is one of the best smelling and most wearable oud scents on the market.
In fact:
This has a soft transparent oud note, that is blended with other smooth creamy woody notes and spices.
It smells dry, and slightly spicy… with whispers of sweet vanilla nuances. All masterly blended together.
By the way, if you love woody fragrances, be sure to check out our best sandalwood colognes list.
Warm & Sensual
This is a masculine, sophisticated scent, and best suited to the 25-up crowd.
And is appropriate for the spring, fall, and winter (days or nights). However, avoid wearing this in the high summer heat.
The beautiful part:
It can be worn dressed up with a suit and tie (Think… James Bond 007 in a Tom Ford suit π), or even casually.
Great for the office, dates, special occasions, nights out (however, this is not a clubbing type scent).
Now, to be clear:
Elegant
Oud Wood is a very subtle fragrance, that doesnβt scream out for attention. So if you’re looking for a heavy-hitter, this is NOT it.
It projects about an arm’s length for the first few hours… then sits close to the skin, hanging on for about 5β8+ hours.
Bottom line:
This should be part of every modern, well-dressed gentleman’s collection.
In case you don’t know…
What is the Tom Ford Private Blend Collection?
All Tom Ford fragrances are created in collaboration with world renowned perfumers.
Here’s the deal:
Their line-up is split into two groups: The Signature Collection and The Private Blend Collection.
In the words of Mr Tom Ford himself:
‘Private Blend is my own personal scent laboratory; where I create special, original fragrances unconstrained by the conventions of mainstream scent-making.’ β Tom Ford.Click to PostI’ll quickly explain:
More Affordable
The Signature Collection are the brand’s more affordable fragrances. Think, designer quality.
They are less complex, more easy to wear, and more mass-appealing.
But make no mistake:
These are still high-quality amazing fragrances. In fact, some of the Signature line scents made it into our top 10 list above.
And:
Creative Luxury Scents
The Private Blend Collection are the brand’s creative, luxury fragrances. Think, niche quality.
They use super high-quality ingredients, have more challenging notes, and are more complex to the nose. And they are mainly all Eau De Parfum concentrations with some Parfum versions as well.
To be clear:
These are aimed at the true fragrance connoisseur, and those of you that want to smell super unique and stand out from the crowd.
But hereβs the thing:
If you want to stand out, you are going to have to spend the extra coin, as these are super expensive. And, by the way:
Exclusive
These are more exclusive and harder to find. And usually only available in Tom Ford boutiques, high-end department stores, and in some airports around the world.
Anyway…
When the Private Blend Collection was first introduced, it originally consisted of only 12 fragrances.
However, this collection has grown rapidly over the years!
‘Private Blend is a series of fragrances I love and wear. Ones that never cease to challenge, to stimulate, to delight.’ β Tom Ford.Click to PostHere’s how it works…
Olfactive Categories
The collections have been grouped in 9 different olfactive categories. Each fragrance will fit in a category below, based on it notes:
- Eau fresh

hey beautypert,
I finally found a perfume which i like the most, its VALENTINO UOMO INTENSE EAU DE PARFUM. The fragrance is magical, I haven’t purchased it yet since I don’t want to make a another mistake, I thought about asking you for more information about it and are there any better alternative for that kind of fragrance notes.
Hi Shahanas
Amazing fragrance π It smells similar to Dior Homme Intense but more wearable. Be careful with the trigger… Enjoy π
thank you,
is it better than DHI? or should I take DHI instead? i read few reviews that says Uomo Intense by Valentino is a skin scent and does not have good projections.
You’re welcome Shahanas π
Both are great. Uomo Intense is more of a crowd pleaser though. Skin scent? not a chance lol Maybe you nose is getting immune from the fragrances π Try them both on your skin and see which one performs best π
hey beauty pert,
I recently bought tuscan leather 100ml. The perfume is super long lasting but it is not projecting as much as i thought it would (on 3 sprays). I checked online for the manufacture date and its showing that the bottle is 2 years old, is it because of that ? or Is Tuscan Leather normally not having strong sillage. Please let me know if i have get my bottle changed.
After 1 Hr i can get the fragrance only if I am close by 4 inch or less, but it lasts for nearly 24 hrs or more
Hi Shahanas,
If the fragrance has been sitting somewhere hot for 2 years prior to buying it this can mess with things. Tuscan Leather is not a shy fragrance. Where did you buy it?
i bought it from a retail seller in a mall. Yeah he is an authorized dealer, but he says there is nothing wrong with the juice. I am planning to go to a different place to check another bottle to verify it, perfumes seems to long last but its not making a good enough silliage.
not good π€π€π€
A long lasting Tom Ford’s men’s perfume for everyday use in all seasons as my signature perfume ??
I like tobacco vanille, noir, noir extreme, oud wood, ombre letaher, tuscan leather but i can’t decide which fits better in my conditions.
So i need your opinion!
Hi Greg π
The best one for everyday use in all seasons as a signature scent is Grey Vetiver EDP.
Tobacco Vanille, Noir de Noir, Oud Wood, Tuscan Leather are too heavy for the warmer seasons.
But out of the ones you listed, Ombre Leather is lighter than Tuscan Leather and would work all year except in the high summer heat. Depending on your climate maybe you could get away with one spray without choking people out. π
Thank you! I prefered heavy perfumes in the list because the other does not last very much in my skin. I will smell the grey vetiver as you said and i will give a chance to ombre.
Tobacco vanille, tuscane and noir extreme are like hell on me,i love them but your opinion is very welcome! I live in Greece, so we have 4 months summer..one/two sprays of the perfumes in my list are enough i think
You’re welcome, Greg π
hi, beautypert,
great review! I am beginner in the fragrance world. I am looking forward to buy a good range of perfumes in a span of months/years. Could you suggest me a list in an order to start off. I am looking for best sillage & projection. masculine, (can be either fresh or intense i dont mind)
Thanks Shahanas π
Welcome to your fragrance journey. Some great ones to start of with, which are safe, mass appealing and have good projection are:
Dior Sauvage (EDT version)
Versace Dylan Blue
Acqua di Gio Profumo
Versace Eros
Armaf Club De Nuit Intense Man
Thank you, Could you mention the best summer fragrances, I forgot to mention that i am here in dubai its 50Β°C here. I had bought Eros but did not work well due to the heat.
Hi Shahanas
Yes, you will definitely do some damage wearing Versace Eros in 50 degrees Celsius lol π
The summers in Dubai are extreme! None of the fragrances I mentioned would work well in that heat.
Tom Ford Mandarino Di Amalfi or Tom Ford Mandarino Di Amalfi Acqua version work good in the high heat.
Also:
Versace Man Eau Fraiche (easy with the sprays in that heat) π
Ferrari Bright Neroli (very similar to Tom Ford’s Portofino but a fraction of the price)
Acqua Di Parma Fico Di Amalfi
Hermes Terre dβHermes Eau Tres Fraiche Version
Guerlain LβHomme Ideal Cologne Version
Dear Beautypert,
Could you let me know if Dior Homme Parfum and Dior Homme Eau De Parfum the same because in my market I can only find Dior Homme Eau De Parfum
Hi Shahanas,
The original Dior Homme is an Eau De Toilette. Then there is Dior Homme Intense which is an Eau de Parfum. Both have gone through several reformulations for the worse.
Then you have a Dior Homme Parfum version which is Parfum concentration. The Dior Homme Parfum is more similar to the Dior Homme Intense version than the EDT version, but is different.
Dior Homme Parfum is thicker, darker and denser.
Has a smoky leather note.
Has less vanilla.
Has a slight hint of oud.
Also the prominent Iris note in DHI has been toned down.
All are amazing π
And definitely not to be worn in warm temperature as they become extremely funky lol.
Dear Beautypert,
Thank you for your reply, I am still searching for the right perfume, could you suggest something more, I have brought dior savage, acqua di gio profumo, eros.
Your welcome, Shahanas π
Try:
Roger Parfums Elysium (Cologne version)
Creed Millesime Imperial
Hermes Terre dβHermes Eau Tres Fraiche Version
Tom Ford Mandarino Di Amalfi Acqua
Acqua Di Parma Fico Di Amalfi
By the way…
The search never ends… π
Which olfactory notes are considered more masculine and which feminine ??? How will u rank top 3 masculine olfactory notes from – leather , spices , woody , fruity , floral , aquatic, tobacco, Oud , vanilla , etc
Myth: βSome fragrance notes are feminine and some notes are masculine.β
I would say it’s the way each note interacts with other notes and the vibe they create is what truly matters.
For example:
Rose can be a challenge if it is used it as the main note. To stop the rose being too feminine and soft, the perfumer may mix the rose with certain bases and top notes to make it more dark and aggressive.
Like rose mixed with patchouli darkens the fragrance (Like Noir de Noir) making it totally unisex. π
Don’t be put off by rose as feminine. Rose is in Creed Viking and Creed Aventus.
Try Maison Francis Kurkdjian Oud Satin Mood, it will blow you away, now that is a show stopper and head turner π
With already having ombrΓ© leather, which 2 other best tomford perfume, irrespective of the cost , do u recommend dat are head turners / show stoppers for buying ??
Oud Wood. It’s not a clubbing scent or a projection monster but it smells phenomenal. π
And Noir Extreme π Or maybe you should check out Parfums de Marly Layton π€
Parfum de marly not available here
Y do companies reformulate their best perfumes and degrade their quality??? Like ysl nuit , DHI , etc
Hi Rajan
One of the reasons they reformulate them is due to EU regulations. Like the time when they banned mosses to protect consumers from allergies.
Which is best seller in tomford signature scent line ?
OmbrΓ© Leather π
O really
Has tomford tobacco vanilla been reformulated ?????
To my knowledge it hasn’t had any “major” reformulation. Still smells and performs excellent.
